Evaluations of the Teaching Program
In recent years, the college and university have strongly emphasized undergraduate education. The Department has responded by strengthening and increasing undergraduate course offerings such that teaching loads are now above the College and University average. The Department offers 18 courses at the undergraduate level and 15 courses at the graduate level. Student enrollment in Entomology courses has also increased dramatically in the last five years. The number of students registered in Entomology courses exceeded 1800 this past academic year.
Departmental faculty have made a concerted effort to improve the quality of teaching. At present, all courses taught in the Department utilize computer technology, incorporating PowerPoint presentations and web-based materials as part of the class. These efforts have been reflected in very good student evaluations and program assessment.
