Abstract: Ongoing investigations to provide a statistical basis for making population estimates and pest management decisions for HWA
Description:
Two separate sampling procedures being developed are:
1. Development and validation of a sequential estimation plan for hemlock woolly adelgid sistens infesting eastern hemlock, designed to make statistically-valid population estimates of HWA sistens lifestage on individual trees for research and impact assessment purposes and
2. Binomial sequential sampling plan for hemlock woolly adelgid sistens on eastern hemlock, designed to make pest management decisions for individual trees at the 10 and 30% threshold on the proportion of shoots infested with HWA
